Electoral moods of the Ukrainian population: June 2010

The current head of the state Viktor Yanukovych continues keeping the highest position in the presidential rating - 38,2% of all respondents. On the contrary, the rating of Yuliya Tymoshenko keeps falling month by month (13,2% of all respondents compared to 17,1% in April and 22,4% in March).

Support for S. Tigipko somewhat decreased (11,8% in June compared to 13,4% in April and 13,8% in March). The general tendency of decreased support extended also to A. Yatsenyuk (4,3% in June compared to  5,2% - in April).

The results of other politicians have hardly changed: P. Symonenko - 2,1%, О.Tyagnybok - 1,8%, V.Lytvyn – 1%, А.Grytsenko - 0,9%, V.Yushchenko - 0,9%.

About 2% would vote for other candidates, 8,2% - would support neither of them, 9,5% - would not take part in the elections, 8,5% - have not decided on their support.

Dynamic indices within regions of Ukraine show that support for Viktor Ynukovych grows in Donbas and in the South of Ukraine, remains stable in the North, yet in the East and in the Centre and especially in the West of Ukraine there are downward tendencies in support for the current head of the state.

The level of support for Yuliya Tymoshenko keeps falling in the Centre, in the North and in the East, remaining stable in the West, where a sharp decrease occurred in the previous month.

S. Tigipko suffered major losses in the West, in the East and in the South. However, added in the North.

Among those who intend to participate in the vote the results are the following: Viktor Yanukovych (46%), Yulia Tymoshenko (15.8%), S. Tigipko (13.2%), A. Yatsenyuk (5.1%), P. Symonenko (2.1%), O. Tyagnybok (2.1%), Volodymyr Lytvyn (1.1%) Viktor Yushchenko (1.1%), Grytsenko (1%). Others - 1.6%, 4.4% - would not support any, 6.7% - have not decided on their support.

In June there is a general tendency of decrease in party ratings and, consequently, increase in the number of undecided people.

The rating of support of political forces in June (among all respondents) is as follows: the Party of Regions - 35.2%, Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc - 12.4%, Strong Ukraine - 9.2%, Front for Change - 3.6%, followed by the Communist Party of Ukraine - 2.5%, Freedom - 1.7%, Party UDAR (V. Klitschko) - 1.5% and Lytvyn Bloc - 1.3%. Other political forces - 2% total. 6.9% of respondents are ready to vote against all, 10.5% will not take part in elections and 12.3% of respondents have not decided on their support.

Since March the Party of Regions has lost 1%, Strong Ukraine has lost 3%, Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc – 10%, Front for Change – 1%, Our Ukraine – 1%.

Among those who intend to participate in the vote the results are the following: The Party of Regions - 44.1%, Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc - 15.1%, Strong Ukraine - 10,6%, Front for Change - 4.5%, CPU - 2.9% , Freedom - 2%, Party UDAR (V. Klitschko) - 1.8%, Our Ukraine - 1%, other parties - 2.4%. 5.2% would not support any of the parties, 9.1% - have not decided on their support.

The target audience of the research: the population of Ukraine aged from 18 and older. Optional quantity: 2000 respondents. The methods of investigation: personal formalized interview according to the questionnaire (face to face). Measure of inaccuracy for the values close to 50% is less than 3%, for the values close to 30% – less than 2,6%, for the values close to 10% – less than 1,8. The period of completion: 11-17 of June 2010.

West: Volyns’ka, Transcarpathia, Ivano–Frankivs’ka, L’vivs’ka, Rivnens’ka, Ternopil’s’ka, Chernivets’ka.
Centre: Vinnyts’ka, Kirovograds’ka, Poltavs’ka, Khmel’nyts’ka, Cherkas’ka.
North: Kyiv, Kyivs’ka, Zhytomyrs’ka, Sums’ka, Chernihivs’ka.
South: AR Crimea, Odes’ka, Khersons’ka, Mykolaivs’ka, Sevastopol
East: Dnipropetrovs’ka, Zaporiz’ka, Kharkivs’ka.
Donbass: Donets’ka, Luhans’ka.
